The Village


Admission Criteria and Financial Options

For more than 20 years, The Village's clinical staff has worked with families and referral sources from across the United States. The Village accepts admission inquiry calls directly from parents, educational consultants, school counselors, treatment professionals and other treatment facilities. We carefully screen each prospective admission and strive to admit only those patients who appear to need our specialty treatment program. Admission Criteria
Patients come to The Village with a wide range of problems, diagnoses and symptoms including, but not limited to the following:

  • Depression, Anxiety, and other Mood Disorders
  • Alcohol and/or drug abuse/dependency
  • Conduct disorders and oppositional behavior
  • ADD/ADHD
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder
  • Disrespect of adult authority
  • Inability to tolerate frustration or boredom
  • Unhealthy self-centeredness
  • Unwillingness to adhere to conventional values/standards
  • Inability to behave independently and autonomously
  • Self-mutilation and/or other self-harming behaviors
  • Pattern of excessive passivity and clinging dependency in relationships
  • Eating disorders that are medically stable

Exclusionary Criteria
Admission for adolescents with the following behaviors/symptoms will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis:

  • History of fire setting and pyromania
  • Sexual Disorders
  • Physical or medical condition that would hinder participation in vigorous, outdoor activities
  • Active Psychosis

Admission Guidelines
When calling to inquire about a possible admission, the following information is needed:

  • Patient name and age
  • Parent or guardian name(s) and custodial status
  • Reason treatment is being sought
  • Current symptoms or problems
  • Previous treatment history
  • Insurance information, if applicable

The Village can coordinate treatment with any professional presently working with and/or likely to work with a patient or family after discharge. Monthly treatment updates and regular contacts can be arranged. Please have available the names and phone numbers of any professionals who should be involved in admission and treatment planning.

As a nationally-recognized program attracting patients from all parts of the United States, the Village staff is prepared to assist families in travel and lodging logistics both during the admissions process and for subsequent contact.

Financial Options
A patient's length of stay at The Village varies depending on the individual's needs. Some insurance plans may pay for a portion of the adolescent's treatment at The Village. Families are responsible for the cost of treatment not covered by insurance.
